For and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and forty five dollars secured to me by note to be paid I have this day bargained and sold to Jacob Gudgell of the County of Anderson and State of Kentucky a certain tract of land lying in the county and state aforesaid and on the waters of Salt River supposed to be twelve acres more or less and bounded as follows viz Beginning at a white oak on the edge of the turnpike road running south with Elijah Gudgell and Woods’ old line to Samuel Saffield’s corner on Woods’ farm thence with Saffield’s line a Northwest course to the pike thence with the pike to beginning to have and to hold forever I further bind myself my heirs, executors or administrators to warrant and defend with general [warranty] all claims whatever against said land whereunto I have this day hereunto set my hand and seal this September the 5th 1859.

I James A. McBrayer clerk of the Anderson County Court do certify that this deed from Joseph Griffey to Jacob Gudgel was September 5th 1859 produced to me in my office, acknowledged by said Joseph Griffy to be his act and deed and lodged for record. Whereupon said deed and this certificate have been duly admitted to record. Given under my hand this 8th day of September 1859.
